Vladimir Putin, the Russian President, congratulated the oldest Italian newspaper, La Stampa with its 150th Anniversary.

In the telegram published on the official website of Kremlin, the President of Russia regrets that some European mass media distort information and manipulate public opinion instead of providing honest and unbiased news coverage. The Head of State commented that in Europe “the most respected mass media turned into a tool for manipulating public opinion”, and “Information war is an everyday life now”. Putin noted that sometimes it could lead to a serious aftermath for “common” people as well as for the whole states.

The Russian leader advised, that this critique relates to La Stampa to a lesser extent. Although such principles as freedom of speech, fair news coverage and civil position are fundamental for the newspaper.

Vladimir Putin wished newspaper much success in future.
