Russian schoolchildren occupy a leading position in the research of TIMSS and PISA, reports RIA Novosti.

On the eve of the International Conference on the results of qualitative research the head Rosobrnadzor Sergey Kravtsov answered the questions of journalists. Mr Kravtsov has noted with satisfaction that Russian school students rank high in the ratings of the International monitoring research quality of school Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS).

This study, conducted every four years, allows to compare the level and quality of education of students in the fourth and eighth grades. A few dozen countries are involved in this research. In the TIMSS-2015 ranking, Russia was rated 6-7, taking place in different subjects, entered the Top 10, which is certainly a success.

In the PISA ranking, which assesses the literacy of students, and the ability to apply knowledge in practice, Russia has consistently raised higher and higher in recent years, which may indicate an improvement in the quality of education in the upper grades.
