Seoul, South Korea, hosted the 6th festival of Russian-Korean friendship called Million Red Roses on Sunday, reports Ekaterina Voroyeva.

According to President of the Association of Russian Speakers in Korea (ARusKor) Tatiana Primakova, the Russian community arranges the festival to provide South Korean residents with the opportunity to get exposure to the Russian language and culture. “We want to present our culture to Korean people and want to become nearer to them and more understandable by them”, she said. During the festival one had a chance to learn about the Russian language, listen to Russian folk songs, try to make traditional Russian craft products and visit a lot of various events.

Russia's ambassador to South Korea Alexander Timonin underlined that the Million Red Roses festival plays an important part in the development and strengthening of cultural and spiritual relations between Russian compatriots living in the country and Russia, their homeland.

The festival got its name after a song named Million Red Roses performed by Alla Pugacheva, which is extremely popular in South Korea. It became a hit in the country in the late 20th century when Russia and South Korea established their diplomatic relations.
