Russkiy Mir Foundation's Board of Trustees Holds Meeting

On 25 February 2016, a meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Russkiy Mir Foundation led by Ludmila Verbitskaya, head of the Board of Trustees, chairperson of the International Association of teachers of Russian Language and Literature (MAPRYAL) and president of the St Petersburg State University, was held in Moscow.

The members of the meeting discussed the Foundation’s 2015 activities and its plans for 2016.

The meeting was attended by: Vyacheslav Nikonov, chairman of the Management Board of the Russkiy Mir Foundation and head of the State Duma Committee on Education; Alexander Dzasokhov, deputy chairman of the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO; Vitaly Kostomarov, president of the State Pushkin Russian Language Institute, and representatives of other organizations.

Vladimir Kochin, executive director of the Russkiy Mir Foundation, gave reports on the organization’s focus areas, its annual financial statements, annual accounts provided to the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation and the 2015 financial plan. The meeting discussed the Foundation’s priorities and its 2016 financial plan.

Participants singled out the development of humanitarian activities within Russia’s foreign policy and the advancement of efforts for teaching Russian and implementing the Russian School Abroad concept among the Foundation’s challenges. There are also plans to hold an International Congress of Russian Schools Abroad in Berlin.

Some of the crucial events to be held by the Russkiy Mir Foundation in 2016 include the 10th Russkiy Mir Assembly (Russia), the ROPRYAL Congress, the International Youth Event ‘Peace Generation,’ the 3rd International Pedagogical Forum, the 5th European Student Festival, and the facilitation of the activities of the Institute for Linguo-Civilizational and Migration Processes.
