Autumn Holidays in RUBRIC Schools

20.11.2015

In October-November 2015, RUBRIC Russian schools celebrated autumn holidays. However, the celebrations had nothing to do with the traditional British Halloween: Russian schoolchildren celebrated the harvest festival!

Children recited Russian poems and sang autumn-themed songs. They also acted out a number of Russian fairy-tales like The Gigantic Turnip, Teremok and others, by themselves and with glove puppets provided by the Russkiy Mir Foundation.

Children and adults enthusiastically participated in a variety of competitions: they took part in a “harvest transportation” race, “collected” berries and mushrooms and “cooked” delicious borscht and kompot for their parents.

Children made decorations out of fruits and vegetables for the art exhibition with autumn-themed children’s drawings and appliques.

Meanwhile, the RUBRIC school in Telford organized a camping trip to celebrate the autumn holiday. Teachers, schoolchildren and their parents ended their trip with a campfire in the woods.
