Music and Literature Festival “These Lines Are About Russia…”

28.10.2015

On 19-25 October 2015 the Russian Centers at the Tianjin University and the Shandong Institute of Business and Technology with the support of the Russkiy Mir Foundation hosted a music and literature festival “These Lines Are About Russia…” dedicated to the Year of Literature.

The programme of the event included contests, presentations, poetry recitals and vocal performances in Russian. The festival was aimed at giving Chinese students and professors the full picture of the Russian worldview and the diversity of the Russian culture and literature. Students were able both to learn about the Russian arts and literature and to demonstrate their own knowledge, skills and talents.

The literary evening dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the birth of Sergei Yesenin was especially successful with the public. The music and literature event “Russia. Motherland. Victory!” featuring wartime songs and poems, as well as excerpts from modern films on the Great Patriotic War, was also popular with the audience.

Gala night “Dialogue of Cultures” was conceived as a cross-talk of different cultures—as an evening of friendship. The Russian delegation gave a commendable presentation of national dress, dance, songs and games. Chinese students danced, performed magic tricks and martial arts numbers and sang in Chinese and Russian. The festival took place in the atmosphere of friendship and understanding. The winners were given certificates and presents.

The festival does not end there. Similar events will take place in three other Centers of Russian Language and Culture based in China. The events will be organized by the Department of Russian as a Foreign Language at the Zabaykalsky State University (Chita, Russia).
