“A Russian Rendezvous” in Chisinau

On 14 October the 3rd festival of Russian cinema “A Russian Rendezvous” organized with the help of Gosfilmofond closed in Chisinau. About 20 Russian films, including Sergei Mokritsky’s Battle for Sevastopol, Andrei Konchalovsky’s The Postman’s White Nights and Stanislav Govorukhin’s Weekend, were screened in the capital of Moldova and other cities of the republic for several days. The film festival was organized by Gosfilmofond of Russia, the producing center Art of Movie Promotion and the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Moldova, with the support of the Russkiy Mir Foundation.

Director of Gosfilmofond of Russia, Nikolai Borodachev, presented the Moldovan Minister of Culture Monica Babuc with digitized copies of motion pictures Sergey Lazo (1967), Where Has Love Gone? (1980) and Big Little War (1980) produced at the Moldova-Film studio. All of them were screened at the festival.

It was decided to dedicate the next film festival to the outstanding film director Emil Loteanu, who will be 80 next year.
