Israeli Children Learn about Russian Culture

13.02.2015

A project backed by the Russkiy Mir Foundation has concluded at a Jerusalem library, which turned into a venue where children became involved in discussion of Russian literature and art and attended practical classes.

Anna Akhmatova was introduced by Roman Timenchik who authored fundamental works about her creativity; one of the leading experts of Pushkin Mikhail Weiskopf told the boys and girls about Pushkin; a descendant of Aleksey Tolstoy, Elena Tolstaya had a story to tell about his Buratino. Actor and script writer Mikhail Lemberg who added a diploma of the Israeli pedagogical courses to his diploma of the Leningrad Tehatre Institute taught the ABC of stage art; and popular bard Marina Melamed gave a lesson of playing the guitar and taught the art of author’s song.

Thanks to the Russkiy Mir Foundation, we began a great work of children’s development, using the Russian language which is not the mother tongue for most of those born in Israel kids. With the help of projects like this, the work will be continued. The next will be the program of deepening the knowledge of Russian culture and science.
