St. Petersburg Celebrates Its Founder’s Birthday

Saint Petersburg today celebrates the 338th anniversary since the birth of Peter the Great. The celebrations will begin on Zayachy (Hare) Island, where in 1703 Peter founded the city, Voice of Russia reports.
 
People will bring flowers to the tomb of the emperor at the Peter and Paul Fortress. Plenty of other events are scheduled in different parts of Saint Petersburg on the occasion.
