Museum Prepares to Commemorate 100th Anniversary Lev Tolstoy’s Death

The branch of the Astapovo State Museum in the village Lev Tolstoy in the Lipetsk region will undergone substantial reconstruction in preparation for the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the author’s death, ITAR-TASS reports.

The museum will be transformed into a cultural educational center. This project will help expanded not only the museum’s infrastructure but also its opportunities. The museum will gain an exhibition and conference hall, computer class, library, archive and hotel facilities, which will help accommodate the thousands of tourist that travel to village every year.

In November the museum will host a conference on Tolstoy’s story The Linen Measurer (Khlostomer), which the author dedicated to Mikhail Stakhovich, a resident of the Lipetsk region.
