Russian Center in Tallinn Joins Campaign

08.02.2011

The Russian Center at the Pushkin Institute in Tallinn has joined the international First in Space campaign, which is being held by the Russkiy Mir Foundation in celebration of the 50th anniversary of one of the greatest feats in the history of mankind – the first manned flight into outer space by Yuri Gagarin. The Russian Center plans a series of public and cultural events dedicated to the anniversary.

The main focus of the Pushkin Institute is the support of Russian language and literature in Estonia. It helps people prepare for the Russian state language certificate exam (TORFL) and also holds various methodological courses for teachers of Russian studies. The institute has a Russian Language School for children attending Estonian schools but seeking supplemental Russian language education.

According to official statistics, the Pushkin Institute is the largest nongovernmental Russian-language education center in Estonia.
