Violinist Zakhar Bron Holds Master Class in Thessaloniki

12.08.2010

From August 2 to August 11, the Russian Center in Thessaloniki acted as a co-organizer of a master class taught by violin maestro Zakhar Bron. Over the course of several days young musicians worked on improving their violin playing skills under the guidance of Zakhar Bron, who has already taught such world-renowned performers as Vadim Repin and Maxim Vengerov. Young Russian-speaking violinists from the US, Canada, France, Belgium, Russia, Greece, Switzerland, Turkey as well as China, Korea and Japan had the opportunity to combine their lessons with vacation time on the Aegean Sea. Upon completion of the course, the musicians held a gala concert at which they played some of the most difficult works of Prokofiev, Shostakovich, Paganini and Sibelius.

Director of the Russian Center in Thessaloniki Natalia Suponitskaya noted the high level of interest from compatriots in Greece in Russian language events as well as in programs that promote the Russian school of musical instruction, which is considered to be one of the best in the world.
