Vladimir Vysotsky Remembered in Riga

The Cultural Center of the Baltic International Academy (BIA), with support from the Russkiy Mir Foundation and the Russian Center at BIA, hosted the Vysotsky Memorial Days in Riga. The event was dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the death of the poet, songwriter and actor.  The following events were included in the Vysotsky Days program.

On July 19 the International Youth Center and Museum of Vladimir Vysotsky celebrated its official opening. The center will also serve as the Riga Songwriters Library.

The exhibition “Vysotsky the Theater Actor” provides a comprehensive overview of the actor’s performances in Riga in various years.

The Cinema Day included a showing various films with and about Vysotsky, including some unique recordings of his performances.

On July 21 a music and poetry marathon “The Hour of Inspiration” was held with the participation of young singer-songwriters.

Other events of the Vysotsky Days included a roundtable on Vysotsky’s life and works, the presentation of a book on Vysotsky and a concert at BIA.
