“Siberia” Youth Festival Kicks Off in Krakow

March 5-6 the Cultural Center YMCA (Krakow) hosted a youth festival “Siberia” organized by the Center for the Russian Language and Culture of Krakow Pedagogical University.

The event gathered over 500 people from various regions of Poland. The festival program comprised workshops, demonstration of films and presentations, lectures, dance and choir lessons, games etc. Among the events were “The Republic of Tuva” (records on an expedition to Siberia), “Woman in Siberia” (a story about problems encountered by women of Siberia), “Siberian Portraits” (a photography exhibition), “Siberian Stories” (theatrical workshops); films “Siberia – Preface”, “Physical Geography of Siberia”, “Poland-Russia: New Outlook”; lectures: "Shamanism and Yakutia", “Trinity Icon by Rublev”, “Trans-Siberian Railroad” etc.

All festival events drew a full house and were a highly praised by the audience. The festival organizers thanked the Russian Center for active participation and support, as well as for souvenirs and handouts provided by the Russkiy Mir Foundation. At the closing stage of the festival Head of the Center for the Russian Language and Culture gave out gifts and Russian souvenirs to winners of the festival competitions and the most active participants of workshops.
