First Russian Textbook for Russian-Language Children in Estonia

The Pushkin Institute in Tallinn with the support of the Russkiy Mir Foundation has marked the start of the academic year with the publication of the first Russian language textbook in Estonia for Russian students attending Estonian schools. The textbook is titled «Tere, русский язык!».

The textbook in unique in that it was created based on practical materials and methodologies developed at the Russian Language School of the Pushkin Institute. The school has existed for seven years already and helped a large number of Russian children in Estonian schools.

The author of the new textbook is Professor I. Mangus, who has penned over 15 Russian language textbooks for Estonian schools. “It is very pleasant to note that to mark the start of the new academic year every one of the students of our Russian Language School will receive the new textbook free of charge,” the author said. “A portion of the textbooks have been distributed free of charge to members of the Estonian Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature. We know that teachers have long been expected this textbook and it will be pleasant for them to receive it at the start of the academic year.”
