Report on the "Proper Russian Language" International Project

On October 12 in Beijing, in the Year of the Russian Language, the first International Olympiad of the "Proper Russian Language" was held. It was timed to coincide with the final days of this significant event in China. The author and developer of this project is the Lomonosovskaya School, which received a grant to hold the Olympiad of the "Proper Russian Language" from the Russkiy Mir Foundation.

The competition was attended by 88 Chinese students in the 2nd to 4th years, studying Russian as a foreign language, at the seven universities of the capital. The Olympiad had two categories: "Russian Language Competence" and "Spoken Russian".

The closing ceremonies were attended by the executive director of Russkiy Mir Foundation - Vyacheslav A. Nikonov, and Georgiy Davidovich Toloraya, regional director for Africa and Asia and managing director of the regional projects of the fund. They personally presented diplomas and gifts to the winners of the "Proper Russian Language" Olympiad. The first place winners (E Syaoi, Beijing University of Foreign Languages; Chzhan Shigoy, Beijing Pedagogical University, Chzhou Yan, Beijing University of Foreign Languages), received an invitation to come to Moscow for the opening of the Year of the Chinese Language in Russia.
