Acceptance of Entries for the First in Space Competition Concludes

18.03.2011

The period for the acceptance of entries for the First in Space competition, which is being held as a part of the international campaign of the same name, has come to a close. The competition was initially supposed to conclude earlier, but following an onslaught of requests from participants, the final date for acceptance of entries was moved to March 17.

The competition entries included children’s drawings, posters, essays, science-fiction stories, multimedia presentations and films devoted to Yuri Gagarin and the history of space exploration in Russia.

In total, 2000 works from 40 countries worldwide were entered into the competition. Participants ranged from 3 years old to 78 years old. In many of the areas, local preliminary competitions were held, and only the best works were entered into the international competition.

All of the works will be reviewed by experts, who face the unenviable task of selecting the best from the thousands of unique and wonderful entries. The winners will be recognized during a special ceremony on April 19 at the Museum of Cosmonautics.
