The 6th Mikhailovskiye Scientific Readings Take Place in Vladivostok

The director of the Far East branch of Russkiy Mir Foundation, Alexander Zubritsky, attended round table discussion on “APEC and other integration processes in Asian-Pacific Region”, held on April 8. The discussions took place during the Mikhailovskiye scientific readings on the “Current problems in the theory and practice of international law”.

Speaking as an expert, Mr. Zubritsky, spoke about the integrating role that the Russian language plays in the Asian-Pacific Region. He described the structure and the types of activities of the Asian-Pacific Council on Cooperation and Safety, the value of this organization in the integration processes of Asian-Pacific Region, the role of the Chairman of the Russian National Committee of CSCAP, the Executive Director of the Russkiy Mir Foundation, V.A. Nikonov and other participants RNC of CSCAP. He also drew particular attention to the role of the vice president of the Yedinstvo vo imia Rossii (Unity in the Name of Russia) Foundation, G.D. Tolorai, in solving the pressing problems of Asian-Pacific Region.

Mr. Zubritsky’s report also contained information on the Summit of Cities of the Asian-Pacific Region – the authoritative international organization of the region, whose task is to ensure the deepening of mutually advantageous communications between megacities of the Asian-Pacific Region, and the exchange of delegations and experts from various branches.

At the session, other reports were presented by such people as professor S.V. Sevastyanov – “New integration initiatives in Asian-Pacific Region as a consequence of the world economic crisis”, senior lecturer V.A. Vorobyov – “Organizational-legal form of APEC and other associations of the states in Asian-Pacific Region”, senior lecturer A.L. Lukin – “APEC: specificity, possibilities and restrictions”. The professor and head of the International Law Faculty of the Far Eastern National University, V.V. Gavrilov, acted as a moderator of the round table discussions. All participants were given a "Certificate of Merit".

On April 9, the participants of the conference worked on two topics: “International public law” and “International private law”, which brought the 6th Mikhailovskiye scientific readings to an end.
