Foundation’s Expert Commission Meets to Decide on Grant Applications

On July 27, the Foundation’s Expert Commission, which includes members of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation.

During the first half of 2010, the Foundation received 336 grant applications. Each was meticulously reviewed by specialists of the Foundation. In total, 119 applications were approved.  They came from 39 countries throughout the world. Most of the successful applications came from Europe (46) and Russia (36), followed by countries of the CIS (23), the Americas (5), Asia, Africa and Australia (9).

The grant applications supported by the Foundation were targeted toward:

•Support of Russian language instruction in institutions of higher education and schools of Russia and abroad

•Publication of instructional materials for the study of Russian as a foreign language

•Organization of cultural awareness events that support the renewal of a unified culture of Russia and Russians abroad.

•Popularization of Russian history and culture

•Support of Russian-language mass media

The next period during which the Foundation will be accepting grant applications is October 1 – November 30, 2010. These applications will be for prospective projects starting no earlier that July 1, 2011.

The Foundation’s grants are one of the central focuses of the organization’s activities. In accordance to the Grant Provision Statutes, applications are accepted and reviewed two times a year.
