Russkiy Mir Foundation Organizes the First National Russian Language Competition in Poland

The First National Russian Language Competition entitled Moscow Guide has kicked off in Poland, as a result of joint efforts of the Russkiy Mir Foundation, the state Polish Scientific Publishing House Wydawnictwo Szkolne PWN and Warszawa University. The project is intended to motivate Polish school students to reading Russian books, using Russia-related reference books and encyclopedias and to studying the Russian language. It is also aimed at strengthening the relations between Poland and Russia and to boost awareness about history and culture of the two countries.

Participants (high school students) are to prepare essays on Moscow based on all available materials including vocabularies, guidebooks, newspapers, magazines, Internet etc.

Representatives of the Russkiy Mir Foundation sit on the jury of the competition. Among the prizes to be provided by Russkiy Mir is a trip to Moscow for ten students and their teacher for participation in a language-related initiative.

The competition will run till May 2010.
