December 22 the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation hosted the award ceremony of The Fifth All-Russian Competition of Intellectual Projects Derzhava 2009.

The award ceremony was hosted by Vyacheslav Nikonov, a well-known political scientist, director of Russkiy Mir and Unity for Russia Foundations.

This year 3,456 participants submitted 2,112 projects. 49 projects were admitted to the final stage of the competition and were evaluated by a jury headed by Vyacheslav Nikonov. Other members of the jury included well-known scientists, experts and public figures – Liudmila Verbitskaya, Valery Tishkov, Ruslan Grinberg, Father Amvrosy, Igor Bunin, Nickolai Zlobin, Vitaly Kostomarov etc.

The list of winners:


The Velikaya Derzhava (or Great Power) nomination

First – Yury Gromyko, Doctor of Psychology, Director of Shiffer Institute of Advanced Studies, Professor of British School of Socioeconomic Studies, Academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences; Yury Sergeev, post-graduate student of the Higher School of Economics; Pavel Sokolov, 4-year student of the Higher School of Economics (Moscow). The project “Metaindustry as a ground for the national strategy of economic development, as exemplified by instrument engineering”.

Second – Sergei Kravchenko, Doctor of Philosophy, Head of Department of Social Studies at Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) (Moscow). The project “National safety of Russia vs. deepening social and cultural conditions”.

Third – Vladimir Dolzhenko, 5-year student of Stavropol State University (Stavropol). The project “Mediaton and other non-governmental ways of conflict settlement as a way to ensure access to justice”.

The Edinaya Derzhava (or United Power) nomination

First – Yekaterina Lazutkina, Communication Coordinator at UNESCO Department of Astrakhan State University (Astrakhan). The project “Education programs for senior people as a way to balance intergenerational relations in a modern society”.

Second – Irina Timasheva, Candidate of Science (Education), Deputy Director of Samara Local History Museum named after P. Alabin (Samara). The project “Orphanage: issues and solutions”.

Third – Viktor Martyanov, Candidate of Science (Politics), Academic Secretary of Institute of Philosophy and Law, Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Yekaterinburg). The project “Russia’s strategic capabilities: environmental priorities of the future economy”.

The Russkiy Mir nomination

First – Tamara Skok, Candidate of Science (Philology), Senior Lecturer, Department of Mass Information and Communication, Omsk State pedagogical University (Omsk). The project “Modern Russian Language”.

Second – Olga Kruchkova, Doctor of Philology, Professor, Saratov State University; Valentin Goldin, Doctor of Philology, Professor, Saratov State University (Saratov). The project “Russian dialects as the national treasure and a need to introduce a new cultural and language policy in Russia".

Third – Vladimir Annushkin, Doctor of Philology, Professor, Deputy Dean of Russian Literature and Intercultural Communication, Pushkin State Russian Language Institute (Moscow). The project “Preservation and development of the language culture: a regulatory aspect”.
