Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Russian Jews on Passover holiday, the Kremlin press service reports.
“This, one of Judaism’s most revered occasions, celebrates the moment in the distant past when the Jewish people were delivered from enslavement and received the ten commandments, which went on to become part of the entire world’s heritage and are a cornerstone of universal moral laws and values,” Putin said in a message. “The life of Russia’s Jewish community today is full of visible positive events. New religious, educational and cultural centres are opening, museums and exhibitions are opening too, and international humanitarian contacts are expanding. The Jewish community makes an important contribution to strengthening interethnic and interfaith dialogue in Russia and to consolidating the centuries-old friendship between its peoples. I am sure these efforts will continue.”
