Painter Ilya Glazunov Turns 80

The renowned Russian painter Ilya Glazunov is celebrating his 80th birthday today, Voice of Russia reports.

He painted dozens of portraits of his contemporaries, among King of Juan Carlos I of Spain, the Italian film director Federico Fellini and movie actress Gina Lollobrigida, created the sets for opera productions at Moscow’s Bolshoi, Berlin Opera and other theaters across the world, and was the only one to illustrate all books by Fyodor Dostoyevsky.

His works have been exhibited in many countries.
