Russian Press Delegation Meets with Israeli President

26.05.2010

Israel’s President Shimon Peres met with a delegation of the World Association of Russian Press on Wednesday, Itar-Tass reports.

The association holds its 12th congress in Israel. Among the participants of the meeting with Peres there were the Director General of Itar-Tass Vitaly Ignatenko, President of Izvestia publishing house Vladimir Mamontov and the chief editor of Izvestia daily, Vitaly Abramov, as well as the Chief Editor of the Ekho Moskvy radio station, Alexei Venediktov, and representatives of other Russian and foreign Russian-language media.

Peres explained to the delegates Israel’s position on regional and international issues, and shared the secrets of his long life and efficiency.

He said with a joke that there was one principle: instead of eating three times a day, it is much better to read a book three times and to be permanently thinking over the goal you have.

During the three days of the congress, the delegates discussed the tasks the Russian-language press faces in the XXI century. The forum will be closed on Wednesday.
