EU-Russia Innovation Forum to Open in Finland

The first high-level Innovation Forum between Russia and the European Union will open in the Finnish city of Lappeenranta on Tuesday, RTTNews reports.

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and his Finnish counterpart Matti Vanhanen will take part in the three-day event.

Described as a milestone in building the future of EU-Russia cooperation, the Innovation Forum will gather over 500 participants, including European and Russian policy makers, business leaders, innovation experts and researchers, Russian media reported.

Putin, during his state-visit on Thursday, will discuss with Vanhanen Russia-Finland trade and economic relations, cooperation in transport, energy, scientific and technical innovations, timber and agriculture complexes, joint development of border and customs infrastructures as well as regional cooperation in northern Europe.
