Russia’s Tatiana Kosintseva is the champion at the end of the third phase of the Grand Prix Chess Competition in Nalchik. The Russian player’s victory became apparent after Kosintseva beat the Swedish player Pius Cramling in the tenth round on Wednesday. She now has eight points and is ahead of her closest rivals, Georgian Nanu Dzagnidze and Hou Yifan from China, by 1.5 points. Yifan had a chance to close in on Tatiana, but on Thursday she played a draw with Koneru Humpy from India.

Another representative of Russia, Bair Kovanova, who did not fare so well in Nalchik, was beaten by Zhao Xue of China. After ten rounds, she scored 4 points and together with Xue is in a tie for ninth position.
