06.05.2010

President Dmitry Medvedev has given state awards to 46 outstanding Russia's citizens. Among those who received the state awards are outstanding scientist and technical designer Anatoly Savin, composer Alexandra Pakhmutova, actor Vladimir Zeldin and cosmonaut Roman Romanenko who was given the title of "Hero of Russia", Voice of Russia reports.

Speaking at the awarding ceremony Medvedev stressed that it was held on the eve of the 65ty anniversary of the Victory over Nazism. He urged all Russians to remember those who died defending the country during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.  "Almost every Russian family had people who fought during the Great Patriotic War keeping an invisible link between them. This makes us a strong nation," the president said.
