Russian and Foreign Servicemen Rehearse Victory Parade

05.05.2010

On Tuesday evening Russian and foreign military servicemen had their first joint rehearsal of the forthcoming Victory Parade in Moscow’s Red Square, Voice of Russia reports. Marching across Russia’s main square were the guardsmen of the Welsh Regiment of the UK Army, a battalion of the US 18th Infantry Regiment, pilots of the legendary French squadron Normandie-Nieman, the guards of honour of Poland’s armed forces, and Army units of the CIS countries. The foreign servicemen had to learn Russian commands and march in time with Russian troops.

Also taking part in the parade rehearsal were more than 150 armoured vehicles, including the historic T-34 tanks, the latest military hardware, armoured personnel carriers and missile systems. The Russian Air Force showed its potential earlier on Tuesday. The crews of 127 combat planes and choppers made their first training flight over Red Square. The final rehearsal of the parade in honour of the 65th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War is scheduled for Thursday, May 6th.
