Dmitry Medvedev Begins Scandinavian Visit

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev begins a visit to Norway and Denmark, the Voice of Russia reports. His aide Sergei Prikhodko says that the Russian leader is paying his State visit to Oslo at the invitation of King Harald the Fifth of Norway. Prikhodko said that some of the key issues that are due to come under discussion were cooperation in power production, fishing, environmental protection, nuclear and radiation safety, joint development of the Arctic region, as well as cooperation on Spitsbergen Island. The parties to the forthcoming talks will also focus on delimitation of the Barents Sea and Arctic Ocean water area. Medvedev believes the issue can be settled. The Russian President is due in Denmark on Tuesday.
