Russian-born Pianist Receives International Award

Russian-born Kirill Gerstein has won the prestigious Gilmore Artist Award, Lenta.ru reports. This award is granted to pianists once in four years, who are “deemed worthy of a global career”.

The award comes with a $300,000 paycheck with $50,000 to cover personal needs and the rest to be spent for development of one's music career.

Kirill Gerstein was born in 1979 in Voronezh (Russia). At 14 he moved to the US to continue his studies. He became the youngest student ever to attend Boston’s Berklee College of Music. Gerstein cooperated with many orchestras and has a broad range of awards.
