11.02.2010

February 10 marked the opening of the Days of Russian Language, Literature and Culture at the Russian Center for Science and Culture (RCSC)  of New Delhi.

The event was organized by the Russian Language Institute of the Organizers of the RCSC under the support of the Russian Embassy.

On the first day various competitions conducted in the frame of the event attracted over 300 school students of New Delhi, who were treated with traditional Russian bread-and-salt, pancakes and pastries.

Younger school students participated in a competition for the best drawing and an essay about Russia entitled “Russia as I See It” and a competition of poetry readers. University students, in their turn, were to demonstrate their knowledge of the Russian grammar, history and culture.

According to the organizers, the event is intended to enhance quality of teaching of the Russian language in Indian schools and universities, to support students specializing in Russian, and to promote the Russian literature and culture.

In 2009 the event conducted for the first time gathered many teachers and students of the Russian language, and ever since it has developed into the a largest ground for inter-university and inter-school competitions, and into a genuine Russian-Indian fest.
