300 Russian Publishing Houses to Participate in Havana International Book Fair

Nearly 300 Russian publishing houses are planning to participate in The 19th International Book Fair in Havana, reports RIA Novosti.

Among the books to be presented by Russia will be intellectual prose; reprints and facsimile editions of rare, handwritten and archive books; textbooks and books for teachers, and books devoted to the Russian history and culture.

The Russian section of the book fair will also offer a number of exhibitions: “Russia and Cuba: 50 Years Together”, “Cuba-Russia. Archives Tell Their Story”, “Viva Cuba”; “Russian Cartoons”, “Cuba in Russian Media”, “Russia in Cuban Media”, “Russian Prose and Poetry: Classic and Contemporary” etc. A separate expositions will comprise books on the Great Patriotic War (WW II) and the 150th anniversary of Anton Chekhov.

Held in the old fortress of San Carlos de la Cabana from February 11 through 21, the fair will bring together about a hundred publishers from 40 countries, including 63 publishing firms from Russia. Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will lead a large Russian delegation to the forum, numbering some 200 politicians, businessmen, writers, scholars and musicians.
