St. Petersburg State University announces admission of foreign students

On 1 February, the St. Petersburg State University will start accepting foreign citizens. 
This year, students from other countries contributed more than 300 budget slots. The quotas for foreign students at universities is controlled by the Government of the Russian Federation, the number of which, in addition to the University of St. Petersburg, go to Lomonosov MSU, RANEPA, NRU HSE and Finance University, under the RF Government. 

According to the number of budget places allocated to the university for admission of foreign citizens, the St. Petersburg State University occupies a leading position. To participate in an open competition are all foreign citizens, stateless persons, and compatriots living abroad, who carry diplomas that allow them to continue an education, taking undergraduate, graduate or post-graduate courses. 

This year, the St. Petersburg State University expect to receive applications from students from more than 90 countries. Every year the geography of the reception of foreign citizens is expanding. Now the St. Petersburg University has nearly 1,000 people enrolled in the government funded university spots. General Medicine, International Relations, Jurisprudence, Linguistics and Journalism are the most sought-after educational programs among the applicants to Bachelor’s. The most popular Master's programs are Management, Economics and Philology and Linguistics and the aforementioned International Relations. 

To participate in the contest one must go through SPSU Online Registration process. Once registered, an applicant has to download a cover letter and an essay on a topic approved for the areas of training. He/she may also attach a portfolio with a description of the proposed research topics, copies of scientific publications and autobiography. 

Acceptance of applications is open until June, 15 2017. The contest results will be announced on July, 17 and classes will begin on the 1st of September. The list of educational programs that are open to accept applications from foreign nationals, as well as the introductory essay topics, can be found on the official website of the St. Petersburg State University Admissions Commission.
