Golden Mask Theater Festival kicks off in Moscow

The Golden Mask Theater festival starts on Tuesday, January 11, in Moscow, TASS reports. The festival has been held for almost 30 years, this year, it will be the 28h in a row.

The audience will be the first to see the performance of the opera and ballet theater troups from Perm. They will present an evening of one-act ballets. Two days later, they will continue their performances in front of the capital's audience with the  The Love for Three Oranges opera. The ballet has been nominated for a prize in three categories, the opera - in seven categories.

The festival program includes the Postscrip ballet directed by Sol Leon and Paul Lightfoot. The stars of the Bolshoi Theater Olga Smirnova, Ekaterina Krysanova, Denis Savin will take to the the stage.

According to the organizers, this year the program is very versatile, including more than 80 performances. They were selected by members of two expert councils. About 70 theaters are taking part in it.

The festival will continur for almost four months. The awards ceremony is scheduled for April 20.
