Italian astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti has begun training for a flight into space, TASS reports. She will become the first female representative of European Space Agency to take the place of commander on the ISS. According to the Minister of Trade and Industry of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov, she will also be the first female astronaut from Italy. Samantha Cristoforetti will lead the next 68th expedition to the ISS.

Before the flight, all astronauts study the Russian segment of the station, and the Roscosmos cosmonauts study the American segment.

The space mission will become the second for Cristoforetti. She will be joined by NASA astronauts Kjell Lindgren and Robert Hines on board of the Crew Dragon manned spacecraft of SpaceX. The launch is set to take place in Florida in 2022.
