Russia is joining the celebration of the International Volunteer Day. This day is celebrated around the world on December 5 since mid-1980 at the initiative of the UN Assembly. Volunteer Day began to be celebrated in Russia in 2017, according to Komsomolskaya Pravda.

The goal of the holiday is to remind how important the work of volunteers is. Charity concerts and actions are traditionally held on Volunteer Day.

On December 2, the ''We are Together'' forum of civic participation started in Moscow. The forum is held under the auspices of UNESCO.
