Russian tennis players win 1st Davis Cup in 15 years

Russian tennis players have won the Davis Cup, Lenta.ru reports. In the final match of the tournament, Russians defeated the Croatian team with 2: 0 score.

Andrei Rublev beat Borno Goyo, Daniil Medvedev - Marina Chilic. Prior to that, the Russian national team fought with the German team and beat it in the semifinals.

It is the 1st time the Russian team won Davis Cup is in Russia in 15 years. Previously, Russians won the trophy in 2006, and in 2002. Last year, they lost to the Canadian team in the semifinals.

The Davis Cup has been held every year for over a century. The first tournament took place in 1900.
