Monaco has joined the celebration of Fyodor Dostoevsky's 200th anniversary, the Russian Eyewitness reports. A stamp depicting the famous author was issued there.

Georgy Shishkin created the design for the stamp. The Russian artist has been living in Monaco for many years and became well-known in the neighbouring countries. He is famous for portraits of historical figures, as well as paintings on the history and culture of Russia.

The artist himself called 2021 the year of Dostoevsky. He re-read the writer's works, letters and diary entries to create his portrait. According to Georgy Shishkin, he made three versions of the stamp.

Over the past years, the artist has created 30 stamps, including those dedicated to Tchaikovsky, Chekhov, Pasternak, Gagarin.
