Showers in Thailand flooded Dormition Orthodox Monastery

19.09.2017

Orthodox Church in Thailand websiteAdjacent areas of Dormition Orthodox Monastery in Ratchabury (Ratbury) are flooded because of unstoppable extreme showers, the website of Orthodox Church in Thailand informs. The monks advised that there are no injuries or damages, though heavy showers caused death of lawns and trees.

A specialized committee of technical engineers have already visited the monastery premises. They recommended reconstructing a part of the vicinity to prevent such disasters in future.

Dormition Monastery in Ratbury is located next to the storage reservoir often overfilled with water in seasons of rains. The monastery was flooded in November 2013. In the nearest future representative office of Russian Orthodox Church and committee of Church Foundation in Thailand will meet to take relevant decisions on volume of restoration works and source of their financing.
