V International Festival Slavic Fairy Tale opens in Sofia

rus.bgGala opening ceremony of V International Film and Television Festival The Slavic Fairy Tale in honor of the famous Academic Likhachev will take place in Sofia today, September 8, the Russian Bulgaria website reports.

Today’s festival supported by the Russkiy Mir Foundation includes around 130 movies from fifteen countries of Europe and Asia. It is dedicated to a hundred’s anniversary of the Great October Revolution of 1917 and Year of Ecology in Russia.

A documentary Contemporary of Century about the academic Likhachev and his works directed by Bulgarian filmmaker Dimitar Dimitrov heading the Cinema and Television Academy will be screened apart from the main extensive programme of the festival, which will last until September 11. Dmitry Likhachev tells his spectators about the Slavic culture, ancient customs and ties of Russian and Bulgarian people in his film.

The head of the Chinese Filmmakers Union Y. Syaogan was appointed the chairman of the festival jury. The jury also comprises cinema and arts activists from Russia, Ukraine, Bulgaria and some other countries.

The entrance to the International Festival is free.
