200th anniversary of Russian presence in Hawaii to be celebrated on Kauai Island

ksors.org200 years of Russia's presence on Hawaшian Islands Commemorative Forum will take place on the island of Kauai in November, the website of International Union of Russian Compatriots reports. Various Commemorative activities will be conducted with participation of Russian and US experts, historians, embassy and consular officers, and local authorities.

Pressing issues are going to be discussed, such as the tension in Russian-US relationship, and possible peaceful ways out of the crisis. The separate attention will be paid to the Fortress Elizabeth located on Kauai island, southeastern shore of the mouth of the Waimea River in Waimea. Partly conserved 19th century landmark deserves to be included in UNESCO World Heritage List, according to the forum organizers.

Traditional Hawaiian ceremony, as well as books on Russian presence on the second biggest Hawaiian' island presentations are going to take place in the frames of the 200 years anniversary forum, too.
