Historical documents about Russian America archived in USA to be digitalized

RF Foreign MinistryChiefs of US social organizations and society-minded compatriots came to Moscow to discuss questions of preserving Russian historical and cultural heritage with Russia’s representatives. The meeting was held the day before in the Russian Foreign Ministry, the website of Ministry reports.

Participants talked over existing projects and plans for the future. Digitalizing of historical materials concerning bilateral relations stored in the US archives were defined as the main direction of further interaction. In particular, much attention is to be paid to Russian America. Besides, parties have acknowledged necessity to continue talks with Orthodox Church in America about preserving the holy relics in Alaska and other states.

Representative of Altai region’s government has informed about projects directed at keeping memory of natives from this region who connected their fates with North America later on.
