Russian-French search expedition arranged at places of World War I battlefields

Scientists and students from Russia and France will take part in a mutual search expedition. It starts in two days, as per the website of Ministry of Culture. Expedition is to commemorate World War I battle next to the French city of Kursi. It is organized by Russian Military Historical Society. The group will search for remains of soldiers and officers of the Russian expeditionary force, who died during the fight of spring 1917.

According to executive director of Russian Military Historical Society Vladislav Kononov , main results of the expedition will be scientific investigations and findings as well as founding of memorial complex in honor of Russian soldiers who died fighting for freedom of France a century ago. The memorial will appear at the battlefield this November.

Numerous excursions are planned for the participants. They will visit Russian necropolis in Saint Hilaire le Grand, will see the monument to Russia soldier in Kursi and visit Russian Spiritual Cultural Orthodox Center in Paris. Besides, they will meet descendants of Russian expeditionary force at the place of excavations by the foot of Mont Espen hill.
