Flickr/Kristina SavicChapel in honor of the last Russian Emperor is to be built in Jacksons Point, Canadian Province of Ontario, as per Sedmitsa website. The project initiators are sure that the chapel will be ready already in a year when the hundred’s death anniversary of Emperor Nicholas II, his wife and children is marked.

Hilarion, Metropolitan of New York and Eastern America, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia, put the first stone at the foundation of a chapel-to-be. The solemn ceremony was dedicated to 60th anniversary of Church of Smolensk Icon of Holy Virgin. There was a thorough preparation for the celebration this year: paved parking lot was finished, the Eastern Church wall was painted and the surrounding territory was well-arranged.

Metropolitan Hilarion headed the church service attended by several dozens of people. He passed parts of the holy relics of Patriarch Tikhon of Moscow and Saint Herman of Alaska.

Final part of the festive agenda was a gala dinner with a huge cake baked in a form of cathedral. Local administration, Russian embassy representatives were among guests. There was also a concert with participation of well-known performers.
