Russian sambo wrestlers beat word sambo team

Sochi hosted VIII International Combat Sambo Tournament Plotform S-70, where Russian team held victory over the team of the world, TASS reports. The best sambo wrestlers from US, France, Brazil and Poland competed with our sportsmen. The top officials of Russia and Abkhazia, representatives of Ministry of Sport of the Russian Federation as well as leading hockey players of our national team honored the event with their presence.

All in all, twenty athletes participated in the competition. Following the results of ten wrestling sessions, the team of Russia won with score 7:3. The wresting session of Vyacheslav Vasilevsky against celebrated wrestler from Brazil Luis Sergio Melo Junior which ended up with the victory of our sambo wrestler.

Despite his age, undefeated twenty-nine-year-old Vasilevsky is a veteran of this tournament. Our sportsman is taking part in this competition for the fifth time and is invariably winning it.

“We have seen tough guys here today. They showed us everything what makes martial arts especially valuable, which is diverse techniques, brilliant throws, and the most important thing, courage and impudence” Vladimir Putin noted during the awarding ceremony.

He handed in the award to twenty-nine year-old Russian wrestler Vasilevsky in the weight category of up to 84 kg, who held victory over thirty-six-year-old Brazil wrestler Luis Sergio Melo Junior.

All-Russian Sambo Federation President Sergey Eliseev has expressed assuredness that this dynamically developing sport discipline will soon be included into the programme of the Olympic Games.
