Fidel Castro monument is installed in Crimea

Opening ceremony of the Fidel Castro monument in Crimean peninsula was held in the frames of the Extreme Crimea 2017 festival, TASS informs. The monument was created by domestic sculptors. The portrait of Commander and the quote “Victory is persistence” are placed on the Limestone stele is 2,5 meters high.

The memorial is raised in Olenevka village situated on the Black Sea shore. In the future it is planned to build a comfortable boardwalk and name it after Castro.

Let us remember, Fidel Castro has passed away in November, 2016. Ten years before, due to health issues, he handed over the reins of authority to his younger brother Raul. Fidel Castro was one of the most popular political figures in Soviet Russia. He has received the highest recognition as Hero of the Soviet Union, and also was awarded the Order of Lenin two times. As of today Fidel Castro who has once said 'I am the revolution', is a cult figure all over the world because he was one of those who who fought for independency and tried to implement social system in Cuba.
