Tchaikovsky's opera spoiled with favorite Stepan Bandera's song

Kharkov opera prepares the staging of Tchaikovsky's opera Mazepa. The artistic director of the opera decided to include one of the favorite Stepan Bandera's songs in it, RIA Novosti reported.

This information was revealed by musical critic Liubov Morozova, who was present on a rehersal. According to her, the production is timed with 330 years of Ivan Mazepa coming in power, and for opening a Hetman memorial in Kharkov Oblast.

Liubov Morozova has reminded that Tchaikovsky's opera is based on the plot of Pushkin's poem Poltava. The main character of the opera is Mazepa, who is a traitor according to Pushkin. The musical critic has expressed disconcern regarding the radical score interpretation. She has stressed that the third act is simply abandoned, while the text is translated to Ukrainian despite the fact that it doesn't match the music.

The favorite Stepan Bandera's song sounds in the beginning and the end of the opera, although Bandera has nothing to do with Mazepa, has stressed Liubov Morozova.

Photographs of the Order of the Heaven's Hundred Heroes and ATF on background are called to awake patriotic feelings, but the effect will be opposite, has stated the witness of the weird production.
