Veliky Ustyug, located in Vologda oblast, northwestern Russia, celebrates 870 years. Celebrations start today, July 20th.

All-Russian Plein-air artworks exhibition opening is timed to this date. "Veliky Ustyug through artists' eyes" exhibit presents works of artists inspired by this beautiful city. Russian Family festival will be conducted in the city center.

Arts and crafts fair dedicated to the Saint Prokopy the Pious is going to be part of the memorial day events dedicated to the righteous Russian Saint. Two festivals - Spiritual songs festival Blagovest and
Carillon Summer festival are dedicated to Prokopy the Pious.

Major sports program with various sport activities is going to take place in the city.

Music will sound from all city corners. Several open-air stages will present musicians from Vologda, Yaroslavl, and other regions.

The festive program will include regional Golden Birch Bark artisan contest, City Masters exhibition, and many other events.
