The second annual BRICS Film Festival has concluded in Chengdu, the Chinese capital of Sichuan province. Panfilov's 28 Men feature by Kim Druzhinin and Andrey Shalopa has received Best Director's award, RIA Novosti reports. Fourth part of the film's budget was pitched using crowdfunding platforms.

Jury member director Sergey Mokritskiy has commented that not only jury but also Chinese audience watched the film in rapture. The award was granted with wording “For the loyalty to the historical truth”.

Panfilov's 28 Men tells a dramatic story of the group of 28 soldiers of the Red Army's 316th Rifle Division under the command of General Ivan Panfilov protecting Moscow and their Motherland. 28 Heroes fought against Nazi, and stopped the advance on Moscow of a column of 54 Nazi tanks for several days.

It's worth mentioning that Where Has the Time Gone feature co-produced by the famous directors from BRICS countries was shown at the opening ceremony. Each day of the festival one nation was highlighted, starting with China and followed by Brazil, Russia, India, and finally South Africa, where the next year’s event will take place.
