Young inventors awarded in State Duma

The Parliament Newspaper/Igor SamokhvalovRussian parliament members awarded the best young engineers and inventors. The gala awarding ceremony for the contest winners was held today, 19th of June in the Russian State Duma. The ceremony took place as a part of All-Russian Conference Young Engineers and Inventors for the fourth time already, as per the press-service of the Russian State Duma Committee for Education and Science.

The contest continued all academic year long. Several thousand applications from seventy-three Russian regions were sent to the contest. The oldest participant was 18 years old; the youngest ones were just six.

The Head of the State Duma Committee for Education and Science, the chairman of the directors’ board of the Russkiy Mir Foundation Vyacheslav Nikonov has reminded about the task set by Russian President to involve up to 80% of children into supplementary educational programmes in the closest future.

Children from various Russian regions appeared among the winners. For example, Arina Khusnullina and Ildan Suleymanov from Bauman Moscow Lyceum won the nomination Human Health for their invention of alarm device for the blind. Children from the Orlov Region won the nomination Exploration of Russian Lands. Alexei Kravets from Sevastopol became the winner in the nomination The Best Start-Ups. Alexandra Zakharcheva from Ulyanovsk became the best inventor in the nomination Space and Sky Exploration.

The Conference Young Engineers and Inventors has been hosted by the Russian State Duma since 2014. It became an efficient format for motivation of schoolchildren interested in scientific-technical creative activities.
